Recently released 3D film Any Body Can Dance 2 stormed the box office but Baahubali director SS Rajamouli said he is not a fan of the technology.
"I'm not a big fan of the 3D format. Baahubali is all about scale. 3D gives you scale but, reduces the depth. I want my characters and visuals to be big and that's why I've shot in the 16:9 format," Mr Rajamouli said at an event to launch a song from Baahubali - The Beginning.
"In some theatres, which have bigger screens, you'll be able to see a bigger picture than the normal cinemascope formats," he said.
None of the director's earlier films were in 3D, though there was a lot of buzz about Eega's dubbed version Makkhi being released in 3D.
Baahubali starring Prabhas Raju, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty and Rana Daggubati among others is all set to release on July 10. The film is presented in Hindi by Karan Johar and it will also release in Telugu and French among other languages.
