“Outlook” weekly magazine got in to trouble as it received a legal notice from “Telangana IAS Officer Smita Sabharwal” on publishing sexist looks on her. Her lawyer Rachana Reddy sent notice in a slam voice mentioning the article was being called “distasteful, cheap and titillating”.
“Sabharwal was utterly flabbergasted, shell shocked, angry and extremely disturbed by the article,” mentioned in legal notice. Five page legal notice was sent to editor-in-chief Krishna Prasad of Outlook while Hyderabad based assistant editor Madhavi Tata claimed it purposefully done mischief.
Notice also mentioned, “Sabarwal’s hard work, dedication and her excellence at her chosen profession are washed away by the mere fact of her being an attractive, young and successful woman who has also accomplished quite a lot professionally, owing to her dedication and perseverance”.
It points out that Outlook comfortably chosen not to mention about Sabarwal presence at fashion show with her husband Dr Akun Sabarwal an IAS officer currently working as Director to Telangana Drugs Control Administration.
A public apology was demanded by Sabarwal from Outlook that “visible and of the same dimensions and verbiage as the frivolous and vexatious article that you seem to think is satirical.” She specified that the apology must be a detailed one not in a way of non-expressive view in small section as she was deeply hurt. A 15 day notice was give to Outlook with a threat that she might file civil and criminal case against magazine.
